Our Drivers & Horses
The people you will encounter at Abe's Buggy Rides are either family or friends who are committed to making your experience here with us a good one. We will do our best to answer any of your question.
Omar Fisher is owner and operator, Him and his family are Old Order Amish, and will try there best to please. His children also like to help out taking care of the animals and other activities.
Our Horses.....
We want you to understand a little about our horses.
Most of us grew up working with horses. We care about them and work hard to make sure they are well taken care of and happy.
Our horses are overseen and managed by Ervan Stoltzfus
Like human, horses also feel good about themselves when they work a little each day instead of standing in a pasture somwhere doing nothing. And it helps keep them physically and mentally healthy.
After they work for a limited amount of time, they get a bath and a good meal and get to spend the rest of the day in a clean, well kept barn.
We also have a farm with a pasture for them to enjoy when they are off duty.
3 things to keep in mind
The horses will naturally sweat in the summer just like people do when they work. Sweating enables the horses to stay cool. If a horse is not sweating on a hot day it is usually a sign of dehydration.
Also if you notice foam in a horses mouth it simply means that he is chewing on the bit in his mouth just like some of us like to chew gum.
It is not a sign that the horse is thirsty. We water our horses regularly.
Horses can very comfortably pull twice their weight. So it is not hard for them to pull the buggy.
